The peat museum at Aitoneva tells the history of peat production.
Peat production began at Aitoneva in 1943. The Aitoneva peat museum tells all about how peat is produced, used and how the sector has developed, its history and environmental management. The museum also has a meeting and lecture room.
The museum is open by arrangement. In June, July and August the museum is open daily from 12 to 5 pm.
Aitoneva is in the municipality of Kihniö to the south of highway 23 next to Aitonevantie road. Drive from the centre of Kihniö towards Virrat for about 5 km and you will see the sign to the environmental trail.
