Peat fibres can be used in composites with various types of plastic, such as polypropene and polyethene. The mixing ratio and recipes for combining peat fibre with plastic are largely the same as when using wood or cellulose fractions. Tests indicate that peat fibre can be used to achieve similar strength properties as wood fibre composites.

Peat fibre gives injection moulded products a soft and warm feel and unique appearance. The injection moulding process creates a “northern lights pattern” on the surface of the product, which makes each product slightly different and natural in appearance. The colour of peat fibre is brown or almost ebony, which gives the end product the same tone.

Peat fibre composites have been manufactured using injection moulding, extrusion and rotational casting methods.
